QUENTIN BLAKE

QUENTIN BLAKE

Quentin Blake is a London Illustrator who has also taught Illustration at colleges like the Royal College of Art. Many of his drawings have been published in magazines and books, some of the most famous include, Punch, Dickens a Christmas Carol and collaborations with Michael Rosen and Roald Dahl.

Quentin draws his work from his imagination, creating images to help aid the telling of a story. He started to do a lot of work for museums and hospitals. They are allowed to be placed onto walls by digital printing, which enables him to do this work with hospitals and museums.

I feel as though Quentin Blakes work is nationally recognised as something that makes you reminisce your childhood. I associate his drawings with the Roald Dahl books i used to read as a child in school and therefore when looking back on these illustrations also brings back the feelings of my childhood. I like the way that the illustrations are childlike; quick and rigid lines, watercoloured figures and simple nonrealism facial features. I feel as though the illustrations appeal to the audience to whom the story is being told to which is why theyre so loved.
