NEPALESE SLUM MOSAIC

A CHARITY MOSAIC ART PROJECT IN A NEPALESE SLUM

As part of the Esther Benjamins Trust, voulenteers Dan and Zoe took their artistic skills to Southwest Nepal to teach Deaf art students at a Nepalese slum how to mount wall mosaics.

I think this is an amazing idea for both parties participating. The Nepalese students are gaining skills which can be used in the future; which they otherwise may not have known how to do. It expands their knowledge of art; allowing them to make things, as we have to opportunity to do. They can now go onto create beautiful, artistic things for themselves, their family and the slum itself e.g. the wall mosaic.

I think it is good for the British voulenteers as they are teaching less fourtunate people, in less economically developed country which does not have the same opportunities as we do in the west. This will be very character building for the British voulenteers and there may also be an exchange of skills from the Nepalese to the English.

I think this is a great project and has inspired me more to go and do something like this to help less fourtunate people.
